Striving for Success Pop-In Series

Workshops
We offer several workshop series for students. Each is a multi-session series with a total of 6 hours of instruction. There is no cost to attend ASC workshops. Students who are REQUIRED to complete an Individual Success Program with us register for these workshops through your Individual Success Program Option Selection process in Canvas. Other students who are interested in attending one of the workshops can contact us at successcenter@tamu.edu.
Courses
We offer two credit-bearing courses:
- ASCC 101: Application of Learning Theories to College Studies (formerly STLC 101)
- ASCC 101: for Hullaballo U
- ASCC 289: Special Topics.
ASCC 101 uses the latest learning theory to help students improve their study strategies. The Hullaballoo U version is geared to freshmen; it provides a thorough introduction to college academics that set them up for academic success. You can register for ASCC courses through the regular registration process in Howdy. Some courses or seats in some course sections may be reserved for students in targeted programs.
If you have questions about an ASCC course, contact Dr. Megan McClure (mmcclure@tamu.edu).
Lesson Plans
We can't always be there to present for you, so we've prepared some do-it-yourself lesson plans to help out when you want to teach academic topics but are not sure how to go about it. Each plan provides a roadmap with learning objectives, handouts, activities, and suggested resources on the topic. Feel free to use these and to customize them for your own purposes. We only ask that you tell your students about the ASC and how we can help them find their success.
